Camera Learning

I’ve been wanting a nice camera for a few years and finally took the plunge in November. I’ve been doing some research through blogs I’ve found to discover how to take good photos on the correct setting and not just “auto”. Happily, I got to try out my new baby in Austin!

Here are some of the pictures I took. I’m learning!

Smash Book Complete!

I’ve never been good at scrap booking. I rush through it, excited to finish the project. Then, I’m upset that I didn’t spend more time to make the project more personal and detailed. Not this time. I did my own DIY version of a Smash Book (a type of non-scrapbook).

before the madness

I’ve kept mementos from our trips over the last year and finally got to put them all together with pictures I took during the trips. This Smash Book covers our Ohio, New Jersey, and Chicago trips. I’m super excited about how it turned out.

As I worked on this book over the past weeks, it became an opportunity to not become a photo album of memories, but also a journal of the trip, a place for all the keepsakes I kept, and an opportunity to play with hand drawn type.

Excited for the next trip and more memory book opportunities.

All done!

All done!

Lindby Photoshoot

Today I got to help out (mostly observe) Mel doing a little Lindby photoshoot. Here are some great little moments I captured on my little phone camera. Enjoy!

Just some nice scenery

You’ll never be bored hanging out with this group.

Being thoughtful

Getting a little artsy

Just getting some good shots. That’s all

All in all in was a blast. Woot!

Musical Meanderings

Music has been a part of my life since I was in first grade. I played piano for six years, trombone for six years, and even thought I could sing at one point. I was wrong on that last one.

I love music so much, I married a man in a band! My husband, Nick, works in a music store, plays a handful of instruments, is in a band, has a recording studio, and mixes CDs for local groups. He is a bit busy, but I love him.

Nick’s band is called Lindby and they have been playing a ton of shows lately in good old Fort Worth. My friend Mel has been photographing their adventures lately. Here are a few photos from her blog.

The gang, rocking Fort Worth one night at a time.

They rocked pretty hard last Friday. Did a bunch of covers including some Bob Marley, Creedence Clearwater, and The Kinks. I’m way behind on their next poster (whoops!) and they have a CD coming out soon which I need to get done. Needless to say, I should get my butt in gear on designing this stuff!

A Little Floral Photog

I’ve always been interested in photography. I have a fairly nice digital camera which I bought to use on our honeymoon in Hawaii. When I say fairly nice, I mean I’m no photographer, and it makes the photos I take look nice.

I’m super excited to delve into the wonderful world of photography. My next splurge in a monetary sense will hopefully be toward an SLR camera. I have no idea which one to purchase, so lots of research will start soon…I’ve just been procrastinating so far.

Here are some photos of the amazing flowers that were everywhere in Kauai…I miss it so much!

I love these.

Seeing such amazing flowers everywhere was mind blowing.
