New Trick

The chickens have a new trick – being super creepy!

First, they learned how to run around all crazy and pumped when someone goes outside, hoping to be let out of their pen for some serious bug devouring around the backyard. Then, they learned how to lay eggs, which is awesome. Around the same time, they learned how to invoke terror in my cat. Now, they have learned how to be precious and creepy in one simple action.

Oh hey guys!

The new house has these great windows that open into the backyard. When either Nick or myself are at home, we like to open the blinds and let the chickens run free in the backyard, as long as we can keep an eye on them to make sure they are ok. The little monsters have decided to keep an eye on us instead. They jump up on the windowsill and just stare at us making little chicken sounds. They also like to hang out at the back door. It is a little strange to look over at the window and see a chunky chicken starring at you.

Pushing for Fall

The first day of fall was 97 degrees and sweaty, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying a visit to the Arboretum with my parents. We got to see the Chihuly, still super cool looking, and some great fall decorations. I think the glass sculptures are a great addition to the flowers and plants at the Arboretum. They did great with the installations.
There were hundreds of pumpkins. They were lining pathways, in trees, and even creating the walls of small houses. It was intense pumpkin love in Dallas. I’m just itching for fall to get underway for the love of cool weather, crisp smells, and soup. I just wish Mother Nature would get the memo. I’m doing my part, though. The house is being decorated for Halloween and fall. Nick and I bought two gallons of the best apple cider ever (the only ingredient is apples), and I’m planning on figuring out a way to make pumpkin frozen yogurt! Seriously though, that apple cider, it is intense and delicious.

Color and Music

Nick and I were busy last weekend. We participated in the Color Run in Fort Worth Saturday morning. The weather was perfect, we had a blast, and got super colorful. I think Nick became a target for the color throwers, probably due to his height. This is a must do for the future! It is fun and exciting and it supports a great cause. This race supported the Ronald McDonald House in Fort Worth.

Our team was The Daleks. Nick was”Exterminick, I was Dalektable, and Claire wad K-Clyne.

That evening, we joined some of our friends in a Block Party type event to turn a strip near their neighborhood into something spectacular. The buildings and whole area had a great feel and I hope something amazing happens there. It has the perfect vibe. There was live music, food, and lots of random fun things.

Since the move, things have been nonstop, which is exciting and tiring. Life isn’t boring in the least bit right now. Feels like things are moving forward in a good direction and I’m ready for it. Just need to find time to work out! Oh man.

Goodriches on the move

Moving day came and went successfully. We had a ton of help from friends and family so it only took 2 days to move the big stuff and an extra few days to move tiny stuff and finish cleaning the old place.

Seeing everything you own in boxes is a very confusing moment. And super annoying when you can’t find anything you need, due to it being packed.

Also, I got to pick up a 20 foot U haul truck and drive it for a bit before I handed the keys off to Nick. It was pretty terrifying and epic.

The ladies were NOT pleased about being in the truck with us

Same boxes, new space. This is after day one and one trip in the truck.

Unpacking, on the other hand, is taking forever. There are some great little moments that keep coming along that make the stress go away.

A lady bug came to enjoy our surviving plants

Our ladies adjusted very quickly, and are now BOTH laying eggs!

Jaydee is the only one who was not pleased. He hid for a day, but got over it.

Unpacking goes better with some “Rocky Horror Picture Show”

Expect some fun updates soon. We have been super busy and been out enjoying things that I really need to post about.
